ARCHAEOLOGICAL TRIPS

Some of the world’s richest early hominid sites are found in Southern and east Africa.

These include the Cradle of Humankind near Johannesburg in South Africa and the Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania, both of which have been declared World Heritage Sites. There are museums at both sites and a variety of tours.

Olduvai Gorge is often visited as part of a tour to the Ngorogoro Crater or the Serengeti in Tanzania and the Cradle of Humankind is an easy half day or day trip from Johannesburg.

The Karoo region of South Africa is particularly rich in fossils and a variety of tours are offered.
